Our exterior
cleaning
services

Six things we do, done properly. If a job needs a different trade — a roofer, a paving contractor — we will tell you that instead of selling you a clean.

Not sure which one you need?

Send a photo of the problem and we will tell you what it is, what it needs, and whether it is even worth doing.

There is a symptom guide further down this page too.

What exterior cleaning services are available in Chepstow?

JPM Exterior Cleaning offers six services across Chepstow and Monmouthshire: patio cleaning, driveway cleaning, soft washing and render cleaning, gutter cleaning, roof cleaning and moss removal, and commercial exterior cleaning. Within those we handle specific surfaces including Indian sandstone, block paving, K‑Rend, pebbledash, concrete tile roofs and slate.

All six are quoted free and fixed before work starts. Most domestic jobs can be priced from photographs; roofs and commercial sites are surveyed. Call 07947587517.

What we do

Six services, each done properly

Patio cleaning

Moss, algae and black spot lifted from sandstone, concrete, porcelain and natural stone — using the method that suits your surface rather than the same jet wash for everything.

Driveway cleaning

Block paving, tarmac, concrete and resin. Each takes a different pressure, and getting that wrong is how a driveway ends up scarred rather than clean.

Roof cleaning & moss removal

Moss removed and roofs treated without the damage a pressure washer does to concrete tiles.

Soft washing & render

Low pressure and the right treatment for render, K‑Rend, pebbledash and cladding.

Gutter cleaning

Cleared from the ground with a vacuum system and a camera, so you can see the result yourself.

Commercial exterior cleaning

Car parks, forecourts, entrances, cladding and gutters for pubs, shops, offices and rental property — scheduled around your opening hours rather than through them. Quoted after a free site survey, not from photographs.

In more detail

Two surfaces that deserve their own page

These come up often enough around here, and go wrong often enough when handled badly, that they are worth reading about properly before you book anything.

Indian sandstone cleaning

The most common patio material in this part of Wales, and the one most often permanently damaged by a pressure washer. Why black spot is lichen rather than dirt, and what actually shifts it.

Block paving cleaning

Driveways and patios both. Cleaning is straightforward; what goes back into the joints is what decides whether it still looks right in two years, and it is where quotes differ most.

Which service do you actually need?

Most people arrive describing a symptom rather than a service. Find yours below.

What you are seeing, and what it usually means

What you can see

What it usually is

Where to read

Patio green and slippery underfoot

Algae on a damp, shaded surface

Small black spots that will not scrub off

Lichen rooted into porous stone, usually Indian sandstone

Weeds and moss through the driveway joints

Jointing sand has washed out

Driveway looks tired, oil stains near the parking spot

General soiling plus staining that may or may not lift

Green streaks down a rendered or pebbledashed wall

Algae on a shaded elevation — never pressure wash this

Water pouring over the gutter edge in heavy rain

Blocked gutter or downpipe

Thick moss along the roof, clumps in the gutter

Roof growth washing down into the drainage

Damp patch on the wall directly below the gutter line

Water running down the wall rather than through the pipe

Car park, forecourt or entrance letting the business down

Commercial hard standing, usually done out of hours

Honest scope

What we do not do

Being clear about this saves everyone a phone call, and it is more useful than a list of services nobody actually provides.

Roofing repairs

We clean roofs. We do not replace slipped tiles, repoint ridges or fix flashing. If your roof needs that, it needs a roofer first and possibly not us at all — and we will say so at the survey.

Paving and groundworks

We clean and re-joint paving. We do not lift, relay or lay it. If blocks are sinking or rocking, the sub-base has failed and that is a paving contractor's job.

Drains, and other trades

We flush downpipes as part of a gutter clearance, but we are not a drainage company and we do not jet underground drains. Anything beyond the downpipe needs a drainage specialist.

How it works

From first photo to finished job

01

Send photos, or ask for a survey

Most domestic work is priced from a wide shot, a close-up of the worst part and a rough size. Roofs and commercial sites are surveyed instead, free of charge.

02

You get a fixed price

Not an estimate and not a day rate. The figure you agree is the figure you pay, and it includes an honest view of anything we do not expect to shift.

03

We book a date and turn up on it

If weather moves it, we ring you before the appointment rather than after it. You do not usually need to be home, provided we can reach the area and an outside tap.

04

We clear up and show you the result

Debris taken away, nothing tipped in the border, and photos sent if you were out. The person who quoted it is the person who did it.

Worth knowing

Two jobs on one visit costs less than two visit

Setting up and packing down takes the same time whether we do one job or three, so the second and third are always cheaper than booking them separately. It is not a discount we advertise so much as arithmetic.

Patio and driveway

By far the most common pairing. Same equipment, same setup, one visit.

Roof, gutters and render

The access is the expensive part of all three, and it only needs setting up once. Moss off a roof also has to be cleared from the gutter anyway.

You and a neighbour

On the estates around Caldicot, Rogiet and Undy the driveways sit close together. Two done on one visit is cheaper for both of you.

What a great company! James provided a very reasonable quote covering both a patio and gutter clean and explained exactly what he would be doing. He turned up on the specified date, bang on time. My patio was absolutely filthy after a very wet winter but James cleaned it so well it now looks brand new. I was worried that anything he did may damage my border plants but absolutely nothing to worry about there. The gutter clean was just as good - no need for ladders, just a very long extendable vacuum piece of equipment that cleared all of the accumulated moss. Whilst the machine caught most of it, James thoroughly cleared the patio of the odd bits that fell down before starting the patio clean. The job was competed efficiently and at the price quoted. Very pleased. I’ve already lined up family and friends with James snd can’t recommend him highly enough. He’ll be back next time!

Common questions

Questions about choosing a service

Which exterior cleaning service do I need?

It depends on what you can see. Green, slippery paving is patio or driveway cleaning; black spots on stone are lichen and need sandstone treatment; green streaks on a rendered wall need soft washing, never pressure; water spilling over the gutter is a gutter clearance; and thick moss along the roof is roof cleaning.

There is a symptom guide on this page. If you are still unsure, send a photo and we will tell you which it is, including if the answer is that it does not need doing.

Yes, and it costs less than booking them separately, because the setup and pack-down only happen once.

Patio and driveway is the most common pairing. Roof, gutters and render is the other, because the access is the expensive part of all three.

No. Quotes and site visits are free and carry no obligation, anywhere in our normal coverage area.

Most domestic work can be priced from photographs, so you may not need a visit at all.

CONFIRM-17 Window cleaning is not on our confirmed service list, so it does not appear on this site.

We would rather tell you plainly than take a booking for something we do not do. If you need it alongside other work, ask and we will point you at someone local.

It varies with the season. Spring and early summer are busiest, and autumn gutter work books up quickly in the wooded villages. Winter is usually the quietest.

If it is urgent, ring rather than emailing. CONFIRM-33 — typical lead times

We will tell you. If a roof is sound and the growth is light, or a patio needs repointing rather than a wash, saying so is more useful to you than taking the booking.

It costs us the odd job and it is the reason most of our work is repeat and referral.
